While researching the sport and science of Olympic Weightlifting for a 7th grade science fair, Jose quickly discovered an interest for the sport. Soon after he contacted the local Club in Lansing, Michigan. He immediately uncovered the benefits that carried over into other competitive sports he participated in (track, football, and wrestling). With overall increased strength, improved technique, and mental endurance learned from weightlifting, Jose has been a competitive athlete for over 18 years. After moving to Dallas, Texas in 2010, Jose joined a local Weightlifting club which soon began to attract a majority of CrossFit athletes. It was at this time that he was exposed to the welcoming community of CrossFit that allowed Jose to express his love for Olympic Weightlifting and coaching to a greater number of athletes than ever before. Jose’s goal is to continue to be competitive while helping those around him improve their overall performance no matter their experience or goals.

Jayla started CrossFit in 2015 when she moved to Dallas to work as an elementary art teacher. The challenging workouts were the perfect compliment to long, stressful days in the classroom, and helped to create more physical progress than the distance running she had been doing in the past. With the welcoming community and friends, she has participated in Crossfit and Weightlifting competitions. As a teacher, she wanted to grow her knowledge and share the experience of Crossfit, and received her CFL1 in 2017. Her goal is to give all of her students the excitement and confidence that comes with reaching their goals.

Kelly was born and raised in Austin, TX where she graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in History and a minor in Architecture. For years, both in college and out, she struggled with her weight. "I was sick of not knowing how to take care of my body. The only way I knew how to workout was to run for as long as possible while eating as little as possible every day. I was miserable and gaining more and more weight! Confused, frustrated, struggling with eating and exercising disorders, and depression." Kelly stumbled into bodybuilding with a friend and fell in love with fitness and learning how to train her metabolism to work the way she wanted through food. From there she dove into nutrition and studied to get her Certification as a Fitness Nutritionist, hoping not only to help herself but others as well. Eventually becoming bored with the run of the mill globo gyms, she began training in Olympic weightlifting and dabbling in CrossFit finally realizing where her real challenge was, becoming an athlete! Suddenly fitness was no longer about aesthetics but about life, happiness, community, and becoming a better version of yourself each and every day.

Frank has been doing CrossFit since 2013. He joined CrossFit in hopes of losing weight. Over time, his affinity to CrossFit has become a lifestyle. CrossFit is an outlet for Frank where he can express himself through fitness. You will regularly find Frank at the gym helping athletes to improve their fitness as well as improve themselves mentally and emotionally. Frank’s approach to fitness is holistic. Frank feels that equally important to how much weight a person can carry overhead is the amount of weight a person carries in his/her heart. Frank became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer because he saw the rewards that CrossFit brought to him. As a Sober Athlete, Frank recognizes the importance of having a support structure where one can find respite from the many intricacies of life. CrossFit Archon provides that for Frank and for that reason he seeks to maintain that safe structure where others may also find rest from their hectic days, even if its just for a few hours a day or a few hours a week.
